Congressman Jamaal Bowman represents New York’s 16th Congressional District. Rep. Bowman grew up in public housing and rent-controlled housing in New York City. He worked as an educator in the Bronx, founding Cornerstone Academy for Social Action, a public middle school, where he was principal for a decade.

He ran for Congress in 2020, leading a grassroots movement to secure the defeat of a thirty year incumbent. Jamaal believes that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. As a progressive leader in Congress, he has elevated the cause of working people within and outside the 16th district. When Amazon workers in Bessemer, Alabama pushed to unionize, Rep. Bowman went down to the Bessemer Amazon plant. When our racist immigration system endangered the lives of thousands at the Southern border, he visited Laredo, Texas to speak truth to power. He is running on a platform of seven major issues: The Green New Deal; the Green New Deal for Public Schools; Ending Antisemitism, Islamophobia, and All Hate; Community Care, safety, and healing; tackling inequality; Medicare for all; and standing with immigrants.
