DonateMichele Rayner made history in 2020 when she was elected as the first openly queer Black member of the Florida legislature and immediately established herself as one of the strongest advocates for underserved communities. Born and raised in this district, Michele knows first-hand how important it is to be a champion for workers' rights and expand access to opportunity in her local community. Michele has spoken truth to power as a public defender, civil rights attorney, and in the Florida state legislature, where she was a proud leading advocate against the “Don’t Say Gay” law that will directly harm LGBTQ youth. Michele is a proven fighter who knows that every vote a legislator takes has an impact on a person’s life, and is running for Congress to help build a government that truly works for everyone.
With Rep. Charlie Crist running for governor, this is an open seat and a competitive race critical to our topline goals of preserving Democratic control and deepening our progressive bench in Congress.
